A Study on Rural Married Women¢¥s Support Consciousness and Support Performances toward Their Old Parents


Abstract
The purpose of this study is to contribute to the formation and maintence of happy relations between old parents and married women.
The contents of this study are as follows.
(1) How are the married women¢¥s support consciousness and total support performance toward their old parents?
(2) According to the sociodemographic variables of married women,
Are there any differences in their support consciousness and surpport performances toward their parents?
(3) According to the sociodemographic variables of married women,
Are there any differences in their support types?
(4) What are the differences between the views of support types and actual support performances?
Questionaires developed by researcher were used.
It is according to Likert¢¥s scale of four or five points.
The subjects were 399 married women in Chonnam.
The statistical method to analyze the data were One Way, Two Way Anova, Scheffe-
Test and Pearson¢¥s Correlation.
The results of this study are as follows :
1. Mean of married women¢¥s support consciousness and performances were 3.11, 3.38. It shows that married women have high consciousness and play good support performances.
2. Among the sociodemographic variables, income, number of siblings show significant differences in support consciousness and age, occupation, religion, income, education, number of children show significant differences in support performances toward their parents.
3. Among the sociodemographic variables, age, education, living arrangement show significant differences in emotional support performance.
¡ÜAmong the sociodemographic variables, occupation, income, education, number of children, living arrangement show significant differences in economical support performance.
¡ÜAmong the sociodemographic variables, age, religion, number of children, living arrangement show significant differences in physical support performance.
4. Married women¢¥s view in support types are emotional support, physical support, economical support. And actual support performances are emotional support, physical support, economical support.
5. There is high correlation between married women¢¥s support consciousness and support performance to their old parents.
Based on the results of this study, the following are suggested :
1) In the socio-educational aspect, we need the education program of traditional ¢¥HYO¢¥ for young generation.
2) Many benefits, such as tax-free interests, a grant aid, new occupation for married children with old parents must be provide in the level of the social policy.
3) The aged in reral areas want more economical support. This stands for the aged in rural areas provide concern and social policy.
4) Rural old parent¢¥s dependency are lessed by information program.
And expection toward married children profer to the reality.
